Creighton University will host Relay For Life from 6 p.m.to 6 a.m., March 22-23, in the Kiewit Fitness Center on campus.
This event brings groups across campus together in a team setting to celebrate and honor all whose lives have been affected by cancer. Teams register in advance and compete to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Participants can take part in several special activities during the event.
- An opening ceremony at 7 p.m., followed by the survivors lap and the caregivers lap.
- A luminaria ceremony at 9 p.m. Candles are lit inside bags filled with sand, each labeled with the name of a person touched by cancer and then attendees walk a lap in silence in their honor.
- A fight back ceremony will begin at 12 a.m., where participants reflect on what they are willing to do for themselves, loved ones, and the community to fight cancer year-round and to commit to saving lives.
- The closing ceremony will begin at 6 a.m.
