Fitzsimmons Honored as Top Cadet

Creighton senior, Cadet John Fitzsimmons, Alpha Co., 9th Reg., Jefferson, S. D., Neb. was one of eight cadets honored at the 2013 Leader Development and Assessment Course for the 9th and 10th Regiments Reserve Officer Training Corps. on July 28. Held at Joint Base Lewis - McChord, Wash., the Cadets were honored for individual accomplishments that set them apart from their peers. Fitzsimmons was recognized as the top overall cadet from his regiment.  As part of the ceremony 47 Cadets from the 10th Reg. were sworn in and pinned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army.

The leadership course is one of the final steps for Cadets prior to completing the ROTC program and entering the Army as commissioned officers.  Cadets that were not commissioned during the ceremony are scheduled to return to their respective ROTC programs to complete commissioning requirements.
