Alegent Creighton Health names Creighton VP chief academic officer

Donald Frey, M.D., Creighton University's vice president for Health Sciences and Roland L. Kleeberger Professor of Family Medicine, has been appointed chief academic officer for Alegent Creighton Health and Alegent Creighton Clinic.

"The evolution of Alegent Health and Creighton Medical Associates into Alegent Creighton Health has already brought about incredible positive change in the Omaha healthcare landscape," said Frey. "This next step represents even further transition toward a stellar academic health system that will offer the region outstanding patient care, high quality research and a first-rate educational experience for our future healthcare professionals."

As chief academic officer, Frey will help build and optimize the health system?s academic structure and ensure students and residents receive the best possible training.

"Dr. Frey will bring a great deal of experience and expertise to our leadership team," said Richard A. Hachten II, president and chief executive officer of Alegent Creighton Health. "We look forward to working closely with him to continue to advance the academic mission of Alegent Creighton Health and Alegent Creighton Clinic."

Frey will remain in his role at Creighton University and as a family physician at Alegent Creighton Clinic in the Old Market while serving in this advisory position for Alegent Creighton Health.
