Creighton hosts "The God Box: A Daughter's Story" to raise funds for Hospice House

New York Times bestselling author Mary Lou Quinlan brings her one-woman, one-act show, "The God Box: A Daughter's Story," to Creighton University at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, in the Mike and Josie Harper Center, Hixson-Lied Auditorium. The show, based on Quinlan's bestselling book, is sponsored by Creighton University and Alegent Creighton Health and will raise funds for Hospice House - The Josie Harper Residence. The afternoon will be hosted by Creighton President Timothy J. Lannon, S.J.

Quinlan, who will offer the commencement address on Saturday, May 18, has traveled the country with this performance, raising close to $100,000 for local cancer, hospice and women?s healthcare initiatives along the way. She presents the show free to the public, however a $10 freewill donation is appreciated. All proceeds will benefit Hospice House.

"The performance takes you on an emotional journey of a family's love, loss and their unwavering faith in the Lord and in each other," said Lannon. "By opening her heart to audiences, Mary Lou serves as an inspiration and a source of healing for anyone who has ever endured a traumatic loss."

Quinlan's book, The God Box: Sharing my mother's gift of faith, love and letting go, will be available for purchase and a book signing will take place immediately after the performance with proceeds going to Hospice House. Quinlan will also attend a book signing on Saturday, May 18 at 5 p.m. at Barnes & Noble at 3333 Oakview Drive.
