Creighton University to Participate in Battle of the Beaks Fundraising Challenge

Omaha, NE – Creighton University will be participating in a three-week “Battle of the Beaks” competition from Feb. 19 through March 12. The “Battle of the Beaks” is a targeted three-week challenge to increase fundraising participation by alumni and undergraduate students from the three BIG EAST schools which have birds as mascots. Also involved are Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisc. and St. John’s University, New York.

The university with the highest participation of alumni and student giving during the time frame will win. At Creighton donations will go to the Creighton Fund; a fund that helps Creighton students with scholarships.

“The whole goal is participation and building on the momentum of joining the BIG EAST Conference,” said Timothy R. Lannon, S.J., president of Creighton University. “All three institutions see the value of leveraging this excitement on behalf of the respective schools, “ he added.

The university with the highest funds raised will be announced before the first game of the BIG EAST Men’s Basketball tournament on March 12. More information and a progress tracker are available at
