12th annual Asian Culture Week April 18-22

Creighton University will celebrate the 12th Annual Asian Culture Week April 18-22. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Change Ways in Life: Seeing through Asian Literature on Truth.”  All events are free and open to the public.  

The schedule of events:

April 18: Monday 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Skutt Center 105

• Presentation: “Literature as A Way of Seeking for Truth”

• Speakers: Luye, award-winning poet from China; Jinmei Yuan, award-winning writer and philosophy professor at Creighton University

• Reception: 3:30 to 4:00 p.m.

April 19: Tuesday 11:30 am to 1:30 p.m.,  Harper Center 3028

• 2016 AWC Luncheon Guest Speakers Series: “THAAD MAD BAD: The Battle of Competing Narratives over the South China Sea”

• Speaker: Dr. Matthew Crosston, Miller Endowed Chair for Industrial and International Security & Professor of Political Science, Bellevue University Pre-registration at is required for this luncheon event.

April 20, 2016 Wednesday:  Skutt Ballroom

• Photo Exhibition: A History of Japanese Immigrants (9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)

• Presentation: The Untold Story: Nebraska’s Japanese (2:00 to 3:00 p.m.)

• Presentation by: Griffen Farrar, chief researcher, Historical Preservation Department, Nebraska State Historical Society

• Reception: 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

April 21, 2016: Thursday 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Skutt Center 105

• 2016 AWC Dinner Guest Speakers Series: "Care and Justice: Reading Mencius, Kant, and Gilligan Comparatively."

• Speaker:  Dr. Chenyang Li, Professor and the founding director of the Philosophy Program at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

April 22, 2016: Friday: Creighton Law School Commons

• Symposium: Growing Trust in the Market Place

• Luncheon and Three Panels: Noon to 6:00 p.m.

• Speakers and Moderators: Vasant Raval, Maorong Jiang, Tadashi Nomura, Steve Sieberson, Ernie Goss, Edward Morse, Jacqueline Font-Guzman, Ed O’Boyle and Ronald Volkmer.
