Theater producer Epstein to lead masterclass at Creighton

The Creighton University Department of Fine and Performing Arts hosts its second masterclass of the spring semester April 29 with Adam K. Epstein, a prodigious producer of the Broadway stage.The Creighton University Department of Fine and Performing Arts hosts its second masterclass of the spring semester April 29 with Adam K. Epstein, a prodigious producer of the Broadway stage.

With 12 Tony Award-winning productions to his credit, including a 2003 Best Musical Tony as producer of “Hairspray,” Epstein is an adjunct faculty member at New York University and has also been a guest lecturer at Harvard University, Columbia University and the University of Miami. At Creighton, he will speak about the role of a Broadway producer.

Epstein’s productions have garnered 46 Tony nominations, led by “Hairspray,” which earned a record 11 nominations, winning four. Other Epstein credits include “A View From a Bridge,” “The Crucible,” “Amadeus,” “The Wedding Singer” and “Cry-Baby.” “Hairspray” also earned the 2003 Drama Desk Outstanding New Musical Award.

The masterclass will take place April 29 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., in Room 207 of the Lied Education Center for the Arts.
