Symphonic band, orchestra to perform at spring concert

Creighton symphonic band, orchestra to perform their spring concert on April 17Enjoy a variety of musical selections at Creighton University's symphonic band and university orchestra spring concert on April 17 at 2 p.m. The concert will be held on the main stage at the Lied Education Center on the Creighton campus at 24th and Cass streets.

Selections to be performed are as follows:

Gustav Holst, First Suite in F
Percy Grainger, Children?s March
Arcangelo Corelli, Concerto Grosso, Op. 6, No. 8
Edward Elgar, Serenade for Strings
Johannes Brahms, Academic Festival Overture
John Williams, Highlights from Jurassic Park

The first two pieces will be performed by the symphonic band, the following two performed by the string ensemble and the final two pieces performed by the full symphony.

Admission is free with a canned food donation. Proceeds will go to the Siena/Francis House, a homeless shelter in Omaha. The concert is open to the public.
