Creighton partners with American Airlines for AAdvantageŽ Global Scholars Travel Grant

CGIAmerican Airlines has partnered with the Creighton University Global Initiative (CGI) to enable Creighton faculty, staff or students to conduct research or present their work at national or international meetings. American Airlines will invest one million AAdvantageŽ miles to support scholars' travel throughout the world.

The AAdvantage Global Scholars Grant recipients will be selected based upon the following qualifications:

  • Special focus on pressing global issues
  • Academic enhancement, curricular development or research on global learning
  • The cultivation of a globally conversant campus
  • Impact on Omaha
  • International immersion and study abroad outcomes

Students, faculty, and staff whose proposals are selected for the Global Initiative will be eligible for the grant.

This is the second year of the Creighton Global Initiative.

In 2016, 29 unique, independent, and collaborative projects at Creighton were funded by $1.5 million. These projects built upon current institutional global efforts and developed innovative ideas by engaging world crises, forming international relationships, and recognizing the relationship between local actions and global effects.

The 2017 Global Initiative process is well under way at this time. Completed proposals were due in March, and are currently under review. The announcement of awards is slated for April 26, with funding beginning as early as July 1. For more information about the Creighton Global Initiative, visit the CGI website.
