Online programs recognized in US News Rankings

Four Creighton University online programs have earned rankings in the 2017 U.S. News & World Report Best Online Programs, announced today in the magazine’s sixth annual edition on online higher education. The rankings evaluated more than 1,000 distance education programs for bachelor’s and graduate degrees in business, education, nursing, engineering and computer technology.

Creighton’s online program categories recognized are: No. 28 in Best Online Bachelor’s Programs; No. 20 in Best Online Graduate Business Programs (Excluding MBA); No. 47 in Best Online MBA and No. 61 in Best Online Graduate Education Programs.

“At Creighton we view our online programs as a pathway for making our Jesuit education accessible to a broad audience of students; to help them pursue new intellectual, social and missional pursuits. These programs embody the academic rigor and quality for which Creighton is known. Our students in online education, who come from all over the world, are valued members of our academic community,” said Tracy A. Chapman, PhD, associate dean for Adult and eLearning and executive director for the Center for Academic Innovation. “We are pleased that Creighton has once again been recognized for the faculty and staff efforts in expanding and continuing to contribute to the prestige of the University’s online programs.”

In the rankings, only degree-granting programs offering courses entirely online were considered. U.S. News & World Report used reputation, student engagement, faculty credentials and training, student services, technology and other factors to determine its rankings. The rankings also included peer review data based on schools’ evaluations of each other. Creighton submitted a completed questionnaire regarding its online degree programs in the summer of 2016 for consideration for the 2017 rankings.
