Creighton Student Health Services receives prestigious accreditation

Creighton University Student Health Services has achieved accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). In addition, Creighton’s Student Health Services is also accredited as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH).

To be considered a PCMH, the center must have an added focus on accessible, comprehensive, and continuous care designed to meet the needs of the patients served. Creighton’s health center is one of only 16 college health centers in the nation accredited as a PCMH by AAAHC.

Accreditation distinguishes Student Health Services from many other outpatient facilities by providing the highest quality of care to its patients as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation. Creighton Student Health Services is a full-service medical clinic staffed with physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified medical assistants, and radiology technologists.

Status as an accredited organization means the student health center has met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care set by AAAHC. More than 6,000 ambulatory health care organizations across the United States are accredited by AAAHC; however, only approximately 200 college health centers are accredited by the association.

Ambulatory health care organizations seeking accreditation by AAAHC undergo an extensive self-assessment and on-site survey by AAAHC expert surveyors – physicians, nurses, and administrators who are actively involved in ambulatory health care.
