Julie Kalkowski named to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Advisory Board

Julie KalkowskiJulie Kalkowski, executive director, Creighton Universityís Financial Hope Collaborative, has been appointed to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Consumer Advisory Board. She was among six new members named and will serve a three-year term.

A consumer advocate, Kalkowski has worked directly with at-risk members of Omaha metropolitan area find financial stability, helping them better manage their finances and avoid falling into cyclical debt. The Financial Hope Collaborative and its Financial Success Program, housed at the Heider College of Business have been instrumental in helping many low-income families find financial stability.

The CFPB says the newly appointed advisory group members include experts in consumer protection, financial services, community development, fair lending, civil rights, consumer financial products or services, representatives of community banks and credit unions, and scholars with relevant methodological and subject matter experience.
