Fine and Performing Arts brings ‘Little Women, the Musical’ to LECA Mainstage

The principal cast of Creighton's upcoming A musical rendition of one of America’s best-loved novels will round out the theatrical season at Creighton University in April.

Little Women, The Musical, based on Louisa May Alcott’s seminal bildungsroman about the life and times of the March sisters in the years during and after the American Civil War, will be brought to the Mainstage of the Lied Education Center for the Arts on the Creighton campus, April 5 through 8 at 7:30 p.m., with an April 9 matinee at 2 p.m.

Rachel Schmidt, Natalie Hanson, Jill Zmolek and Rachel Bielstein star as Jo, Amy, Meg and Beth March, respectively. Sam McKinney plays Professor Fritz Bhaer, who befriends, mentors and ultimately marries Jo, the central character. Other cast members include Caitlin Wright as Marmee March, the girls’ mother, and Ben Gleidt as Mr. Laurence, Dominic Matigian as Laurie Laurence, Esther Aruguete as Aunt March and Matthew Tolliver as John Brooke.

Little Women, The Musical, is directed by Alan Klem, with musical direction by Stephen Sheftz. Scenic and lighting design is by Bill Van Deest, costume design by Lindsay Pape, and choreography by Megan Torbert.

Original music is by Jason Howland with lyrics by Mindi Dickstein. The musical's book is by Allan Knee.
