Julie Kalkowski to receive Jim Wolf Equal Justice Award

Julie KalkowskiHaving worked with low-income families for 25 years, Julie Kalkowski, the executive director of Creighton University's Financial Success Program, knows that with a few simple tools and new decision making skills she can boost self-confidence among low to moderate income families and help them to become financially stable.

A consumer advocate, Kalkowski has worked directly with at-risk members of the Omaha metropolitan area, helping them find financial stability, better manage their finances and avoid falling into cyclical debt.

In recognition of her passion and commitment, Kalkowski will receive the Jim Wolf Equal Justice Award at the 2017 Good Apple Awards, Thursday, Oct. 19 at the Livestock Exchange Ballroom in Omaha.

Kalkowski was appointed to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Consumer Advisory Board in July.

The Jim Wolf Equal Justice Award, awarded by Nebraska Appleseed, recognizes a Nebraskan who has made significant contributions to justice for all throughout one’s career in the spirit of Jim Wolf, a founding Appleseed board member. Nebraska Appleseed recognizes advocates who have made contributions to the fight for justice for all Nebraskans.
