Markoe-DePorres Social Justice Lecture to be held Nov. 13

The annual Markoe-DePorres Social Justice Lecture at Creighton University will look at the moral underpinnings of the climate-change fight with a talk from one of the world’s distinguished scholars on the subject.

Donald A. Brown, JD, scholar in residence and professor for sustainability ethics and law at Widener University School of Law, will deliver the lecture, titled “Climate Change, Ethics and Policy: Navigating the Perfect Moral Storm,” Tuesday, Nov. 13 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Hixson-Lied Auditorium in the Harper Center, 602 N. 20th St., on the Creighton campus.

Brown is a former program manager for the United Nations Organizations at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of International Environmental Policy. He’s the author of Climate Change Ethics: Navigating the Perfect Moral Storm.

Brown’s lecture will look at climate change as a moral issue and explore the role of ethics in the Paris Agreement and other policy negotiations. This lecture is free and open to the public.

The Markoe-De Porres Social Justice Lecture is sponsored by the Creighton Justice and Peace Studies Program and the College of Arts and Sciences.
