Alumna Sheila Nix named chief of staff to the Department of Education

Sheila NixCreighton alumna Sheila Nix, BSBA'83, JD, has accepted a high-ranking position at the United States Department of Education. On Wednesday, Jan. 20, she was sworn in as chief of staff to the Department of Education.

Thursday, Nix stepped down from Creighton’s Board of Trustees, as her new position precludes her from serving on the boards of any educational institutions. The Executive Committee of the Board passed a formal resolution of gratitude for Nix's service as a Trustee since 2017. Read the full announcement from the Department of Education.

"We are excited for Sheila that she has accepted this position with the Department of Education, and we are grateful for her service to our Board of Trustees,” said Creighton President the Rev. Daniel S. Hendrickson, SJ, PhD. “This appointment really attests to her character and accomplished background, and to the education she received here at Creighton University.”
