Many publishers provide alert services to keep researchers informed of new research as it becomes available. The Library also offers several current awareness options that are not limited to a single publisher or discipline. These include alert services from IngentaConnect and EBSCOhost.


IngentaConnect is a citation database for thousands of journals in a range of academic and professional fields. The Creighton University Libraries carry a subscription to IngentaConnect's email alert service.

Faculty can select an unlimited number of journals for table-of-contents alerts, and set up an unlimited number of topical searches as well. These are run against the database on a regular basis and updates are emailed automatically.

How to Register
  • Connect to from your campus computer.
  • Click on Sign up here to register.
  • Complete and submit the personal registration web form.
  • After you have registered, you can sign in to use your personal account.
How to Set Up Alerts

Search Alerts: Enter a keyword search and then return to the IngentaConnect home page. Click on "Search history." Follow the steps to save your search and create an alert.

New Issue Alerts: Click on "Create new publication alerts" from the IngentaConnect home page. Search or browse for the journals you are interested in and add them to your profile.

Document Delivery

IngentaConnect also offers subscription and document delivery service for a fee, but faculty are encouraged to use interlibrary loan instead. Interlibrary loan service is fully subsidized by the Reinert-Alumni Library for faculty in the College of Arts & Sciences and College of Business.


RefAware is a web-based service designed to alert researchers to newly posted publications in their field. by trolling the Internet and delivering new information directly to the user. It cover 8,000 peer-reviewed sources and other non-refereed material. The service is available by virtue of the CU Libraries campus-wide subscription to RefWorks.


EBSCOhost also offers an alert feature. The Library subscribes to numerous databases from the EBSCO company, including Academic Search Premier and Business Sources Premier. With EBSCOhost's alert service, faculty can keep current with new research originating from multiple publishers in their own and related fields. Step-by step instructions are available: 


ProQuest is the vendor that provides Sociological Abstracts, Worldwide Political Science Abstracts, Philosopher's Index, and other library databases. ProQuest offers an automatice Table of Contents email alert and search alert. To learn more, create a My Research account in the ProQuest platform and and follow the step-by-step instructions provided.
