How do I place an item on hold?

If a book you need is checked out or not on the shelf, we can search for it and place it on hold for you. Simply locate the record for the missing item in JaySearch and sign in to place our request. You will receive notification when the item becomes available. If you prefer, you can request a missing item through interlibrary loan instead.

How do I renew items that I have checked out?

You may renew materials in person or online with a valid university ID card. To renew online, sign in to JaySearch with your Creighton credentials and click on My Account. Items cannot be renewed if they are already overdue or have already been placed on hold. Guest card holders may not renew items.

What if items become overdue?

Items must be renewed or returned by the due date, in good condition. If an item is not returned within 42 days, you will be charged a replacement fee plus $10 for processing. We will waive the replacement charge when materials are returned.

Fines for overdue Course Reserves are 50 per hour for 2- and 4-hour items, and $1 per day for 3- and 7-day items. If course reserves are not returned, you will be charged the overdue fine, a lost item fee, and a non-refundable processing fee.

The Library may suspend your borrowing privileges if you have overdue materials or fines. We may also block registration or place a hold on your university records. The Library accepts payment in any of the following forms:

  • Cash
  • Check, payable to "Creighton University." Mail to: Access Services | Reinert-Alumni Library | Creighton University | 2500 California Plaza | Omaha, NE 68178
  • JayBuck$ (debit account)
  • Credit or debit card, at the Circulation Desk or by phone: (402) 280-2260
