Information for Students

Your instructor may assign reading or viewing that is "on reserve" in the Library, instead of in your textbook or BlueLine. Reserve materials in hard copy are shelved behind the Circulation desk, including books, DVDs, videos and other materials.

You can look up course reserves through the Reserve Desk in the Library Catalog (CLIC). The best method is by your instructor's name, although you can also use the course name or number. You must present your university ID card to check out reserve items, and overdue fines apply at a rate of 25 cents per hour or $1 per day. Depending on the item, loan periods are:

  • 2 hours
  • 2 hours/overnight (starting one hour before closing)
  • 4 hours
  • 3 days
  • 7 days

The staff at the Circulation and Reserves Services counter are always ready to help you locate course reserves. If you are faculty or teaching staff interested in course reserves, information for instructors is also available.
