The Reinert-Alumni Library is pleased to provide Creighton students who are enrolled at a distance the same privileges accorded to residential students. We make every reasonable accommodation to overcome the obstacles presented by distance for those with a valid ID from Creighton University Card Services.

Research Guides

The Library's subject liaisons have developed web-based Research Guides available for each academic department that bring together the specialized resources available in those areas. Guides for many online graduate programs are also available.

Students are encouraged to use the appropriate Research Guide as a springboard for their library research. Each Guide includes contact information for a designated liaison libarian who can answer questions and offer professional research assistance.

Get Help

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need help or have a question. You can phone, email, chat, or text us during regular hours (CST). The Reinert-Alumni Library's Research Toolbox is also available for tutorials, tip sheets, and other tools to help you learn how to use the Library effectively. The Library Catalog (CLIC) and library databases also provide FAQs, "help" windows, or tutorials.

Get Books

The Library Catalog (CLIC) includes thousands of e-books available online. We also mail books in hard copy free of charge to distance learners outside the Omaha metropolitan area. Standard terms of use apply (see Borrow or Renew). Books can be returned in the same postage-paid mailer in which they arrive. Note that the Library does not supply required texts.

  • Request a Book @Creighton
You can request a book from the Reinert-Alumni Library collection, as it appears in the Library Catalog (CLIC). Please allow 1 week for delivery.
  • Request a Book NOT @Creighton (Interlibrary Loan)
Books not held by this Library and not available in your local community can be borrowed via interlibrary loan. We will forward a copy to you from another library, subject to their terms of use. Allow 2 weeks for delivery.

Get Articles

The Program Guides are a good starting point to discover journal articles and other library resources for a given research need. Click on the Program Guides in the box at right. When you already have a citation, you may use these options to obtain the article:

  • E-Journals A-Z (articles @Creighton)
When you know the specific journal article that you want, start here. You will be asked to log in with your Creighton netID.
  • Request an Article  (Interlibrary Loan)
Articles not available online or from your local community can be obtained in 4-6 days.

Other Libraries

Distance students are reminded that they may have access to library services and resources in their local community. In addition to the Reinert-Alumni Library, Creighton students are also served by the Health Sciences Library/LRC and the Klutznick Law Library. As a distance learner, you may choose which library to contact based on your needs.
