The Reinert-Alumni Library is pleased to provide Creighton students who are enrolled at a distance the same privileges accorded to residential students. We make every reasonable accommodation to overcome the obstacles presented by distance for those with a valid ID from Creighton University Card Services.

Get Help

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need help or have a question. You can phone, email, chat, or text us during regular hours (CST). The Reinert-Alumni Library's Research Toolbox is also available for tutorials, tip sheets, and other tools to help you learn how to use the Library effectively. The Library Catalog (CLIC) and library databases also provide FAQs, "help" windows, or tutorials.

Find Library Resources

Finding books, articles, and other resources from the CU Libraries is easy with JaySearch, our new discovery tool that launched in May, 2016. This state-of-the-art system is designed to be simple and intuitive, but please don't hesitate to contact us if your search is unsuccessful!

Students are also encouraged to explore the library Research Guides. The Research Guides (and Program Guides) include specialized databases and other recommended resources for each academic area, as well as contact information for the librarian who can offer professional research assistance in that subject.

Get Books

The JaySearch library system offers thousands of e-books available online. We can also mail books in hard copy to distance students living outside the Omaha metro area free of charge. You can return books in the same postage-paid mailer in which they arrive. Note that the Library does not supply textbooks or other required texts.

  • Get a Book @Creighton
You can request a book from the Reinert-Alumni Library collection, as it appears in JaySearch. Please allow 1 week for delivery. Standard terms of use apply; see Borrow or Renew.
  • Get a Book NOT @Creighton
Books not held by this Library (and not available in your local community) can be borrowed via "interlibrary loan." We will forward the book to you from another library, subject to their terms of use. Allow 2 weeks for delivery.

Get Articles

You may encounter articles that are not available online through JaySearch or any of the databases available from the CU Libraries. Don't despair! If you have have a complete citation, you may use these options to obtain the article:

  • Browse eJournals @Creighton
When you know the specific journal article that you want, start here. You will be asked to log in with your Creighton netID.
  • Get an Article NOT @Creighton
Articles not available online or from your local community can usually be obtained from another library for your use in 4-6 days, at no charge.

Other Libraries

Distance students are reminded that they may have access to library services and resources in their local community. In addition to the Reinert-Alumni Library, Creighton students are also served by the Health Sciences Library and the Law Library. As a distance learner, you may choose which library to contact based on your needs.
