Biostatistical Core

Research Design and Statistical Analysis:

Our biostatistician is available for any researchers in need of consultation in research design and/or statistical analysis. In close collaboration with the Division of Clinical Research and Evaluative Sciences, the Biostatics core has developed the following steps to help expedite the research process. Biostatistician services will be provided free of charge for unfunded research projects but the necessary biostatistician effort and corresponding salary should be incorporated into all research projects submitted for external funding. Phoenix Campus Faculty: Please identify and include a collaborator at the Omaha Campus.

Prior to meeting directly with the Biostatistics core, please complete the following steps. Note that Step 2 can be ignored by faculty.

  1. Identify a research question for your project.
  2. Identify a mentor to collaborate on your project.
  3. Determine whether data are available to answer your research question.
  4. Download and complete the Study Proposal Form
  5. Submit the completed Study Proposal Form to Jack Taylor

Once the completed Study Proposal Form has been received, Jack Taylor will be in contact to set up a time to meet.

Projects will be queued in the order they are received. Projects with unrealistic timelines or projects with questionable scientific rigor will be denied. It is in your best interest to complete the Study Proposal Form well before your project deadline to ensure a quality deliverable.

Data analysis consultation examples:

  • ANOVA, t-tests, and non-parametric alternatives
  • Multiple regression and ANCOVA
  • Discriminant Function Analysis & Logistic Regression
  • PCA/Factor analysis
  • Network Analysis/Graph Theory

Additional Services (please still fill out a proposal form):

  • Instruction in graphing through R
  • Light scripting and automation of repetitive data-oriented tasks
  • Consultation and statistical evaluation of novel pen-and-paper research assessments
  • DeepLabCut automated body tracking project setup (computing resources need to be arranged separately)
