In addition to the PMT's on the new confocal, the Leica System is outfitted with 2 high sensitivity detectors call HyD detectors. Something that you need to be aware of is these detectors operate at the same frequency as cell phones. The confocal room does not get good cell phone reception and if your phone is too close to the scan head, the cell phone can interfere with your image when it pings the cell tower. Please see below.
To keep this from happening, place your cell phone on the desk, as far away from the confocal as you can place it. I have only seen this happen when the phone is in close proximity to the scan head.
