Eligibility: For Sophomore and Junior Students planning to apply for any prestigious external scholarship (e.g. Rhodes, Marshall, Fulbright).
Purpose: The Presidential Mentoring Scholarship prepares Creighton students for applying to prestigious national and international scholarships and fellowships. Presidential Mentoring Scholarship funds will apply to the student's tuition in junior or senior year.
Application Process: The application will mirror the application process for most national and international scholarships, thus helping to prepare the applicant for later efforts.
Students should first research and identify those scholarships/fellowships that they plan to apply for during their senior year (or earlier, if they are planning to pursue a Goldwater or Udall, for instance). Students must download and complete the application form. The due date is Friday, January 17, 2014.*
*IF YOU WILL NOT BE ON CAMPUS IN THE SPRING, THE DEADLINE IS MONDAY, DECEMBER 2ND. (The earlier deadline will allow for an interview in December.)
References are also due January 17, 2014 (December applicants' recommendations are due December 2nd).
Recommendations can be emailed to Dr. Elizabeth Elliot-Meisel or submitted in a signed sealed envelope with your application when you turn in your full application to the Career Center office. Please also provide the following materials:
Finalists will be invited to an interview with the selection committee.
The selection committee will be composed of the Creighton faculty advisors for National and International Scholarships and Fellowships. The committee will then make recommendations to the Provost and the President, who will make the final decisions. Applications are due to the Career Center, Harper 2015, by 4pm on the due date above. Amounts: one (1) $2,500 award and five (5) $1,000 awards. The award is non-renewable.
