The Tuesday/Thursday 3:00pm - 3:55pm Pilates class will be cancelled the rest of the semester due to low attendance.  

The Spring 2013 Group Fitness Schedue is now available!! The schedule runs from January 16, 2013 through May 3, 2013 with classes offered everyday. Click this link to see the complete schedule and read the class descriptions.

Overview

The Creighton University Group Fitness program strives to provide a variety of classes led by knowledgeable instructors who believe in a balanced and healthy lifestyle.  With such a wide range of classes there is something for everyone, from the beginner to the experienced exerciser.  It is our goal to assist you in achieving your healthy fitness goals.

1. Non-Student - Where do you work/what do you do?

Adjunct instructor for the Department of Exercise Science. Author of the fitness blog Blonde Ponytail: www.blondeponytail.com

1. Student - what are you studying/what year are you?

I am a second year graduate student studying Occupational Therpay.

2. What classes/formats do you teach/enjoy teaching/enjoy taking?

I love teaching and training using HIIT (high intensity interval training) style workouts! This is how I prefer to train and believe it is the best way to change physique and maximize time in the gym!

2. What classes/formats do you teach/enjoy teaching/enjoy taking?

I teach yoga and Zumba. I enjoy taking any class that will give me a great workout and help me feel my best!

3. Why do you enjoy being a GF instructor?

Being a GF instructor offers me the chance to see the transformation & growth of so many individuals! Plus, I love the energy!

3. Why do you enjoy being a GF instructor?

I enjoy being a GF instructor because it allows me to share my passion for fitness with others.                 

4. What is your most memorable class experience - teaching or taking?

My first CrossFit workout or WOD (workout of the day) completely humbled me! I remember thinking, "I thought I was in shape?!!" Whew! 

4. What is your most memorable class experience - teaching or taking?

My most memorable class experiences have been taking yoga classes with my mom since I was in high school. Now when I teach, the most memorable classes are when everyone is really focused, energized, and having fun.

5. Do you have a fitness philosophy? If so, what is it?

Be an athlete, meaning don't be exclusive. Try different methods of training, activities, and sports.

5. Do you have a fitness philosophy? If so, what is it?

My fitness philosophy is constantly evolving; however, a resonating idea for me is that fitness is a personal journey and your workouts are what you make of them.

6. How would you describe your teaching style?

I have a coaching background, so I'm big on encouragement and educating individuals during class (proper form, heart rate, etc.)

6. How would you describe your teaching style?

I am passionate about each class that I teach and hope that my style reflects an accepting atmosphere where everyone is welcome. I appreciate the give/take factor of teaching and learn as much, if not more, from my students as they hopefully learn from me.

7. One interesting fact about you.

I played college softball at Stanford University.

7. One interesting fact about you.

 An interesting fact about me is that I am a total musical theatre nerd!
