The Creighton University Group Fitness program strives to provide a variety of classes led by knowledgeable instructors who believe in a balanced and healthy lifestyle.  With such a wide range of classes there is something for everyone, from the beginner to the experienced exerciser.  It is our goal to assist you in achieving your healthy fitness goals. You can purchase a Group Fitness Membership in the Recreation and Wellness main office during normal business hours

Cardio

CU Cycling:  This is a high energy 45-minute indoor cycling class led by a motivating instructor and accompanied by the instructor's unique playlist of powerful and energizing music.

MixxedFit: Is a people-inspired dance fitness program that is a mix of explosive dancing and boot camp toning. Everything about our dance fitness program can be described as explosive and all of our movements are always big, exaggerated, full-out, and our very best.

Tabata: Is easy to follow, through a variety of simple, yet intense exercises, each class will blast the calories and provide noticeable results in a short amount of time. Whether your goal is muscle tone, weight loss, or both, this class will provide whatever you are looking for.

Zumba: Is a fusion of Latin and International music dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, and based on the principle that a workout should be "FUN AND EASY TO DO." The routines feature aerobic fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.

Boot Camp: Boot Camp workout is a type of interval training. Bursts of intense activity alternated with intervals of lighter activity.

Dance Fusion: Dance Fusion is a an easy to follow and high intensity fitness class containing a perfect combination of various styles of dance and toning. No experience of dance of any form is necessary to take the class. All are welcome!

 

Mind/Body

Vinyasa: Time to set your intention and feel the burn. You will heat up with a few sun salutations then delve deep into your core. This workout will leave you feeling energized, open and toned.  Move your way to better posture and a toned body with this workout. Get ready to work head to toe.

Sunrise Yoga: In the yogic discipline, the morning is considered as a "divine time" and when an individual's spiritual energy is at its peak. Clarity, creativity, and peace of mind and body are benefits of a sunrise yoga practice because of fewer distractions prior to starting your day.

 

Strength

Body Pump: This 60-minute addictive workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises such as squats, presses, lifts and curls. The key to BODYPUMP is THE REP EFFECT, a breakthrough in fitness training focusing on high repetition movements with low weight loads.

Barre Intensity Combines attributes of Pilates, dance, and functional fitness training. We incorporate small isolated movement to fatigue the muscles, large range motion to elevate the heart rate, and sequencing that incorporates upper and lower body to make every minute count.

Barre Express: Total body workout specifically constructed to strengthen, tone and lengthen! This fast-paced session will effectively reshape your thighs, core, glutes, and arms utilizing the ballet barre for stability and control. This challenging 30-minute class is designed for anyone craving a long and lean physique through purposeful movement and is completely strength-based.

Sculpt: Is a non-aerobic, muscle-toning class, usually focused on core strength. Most classes use weight bars, exercise bands, or dumbbells, or a combination of these gadgets. You perform traditional weight-training moves in a class setting.

Sweat N Step: Step aerobics is a form of aerobic exercise using of an elevated platform (the step). The height can be tailored to individual needs by inserting risers under the step.

How do I register for a group fitness class?

How do I register for a group fitness class?

  1. Download the Mind Body Fitness and Wellness app.
  2. After downloading the app, it will ask you to set up an account. You will want to select the button that says "continue with email". Follow the prompts to complete this.
  3. Use your Creighton Net ID as the email to sign up for the account, with a password of your choice.
    1. i.e. abc12345@creighton.edu
  4. A verification email will be sent to you once you have signed up. Please verify your account before getting started.
  5. If you already have an account with Mind Body, please create a new account under your Creighton Net ID.
  6. Search "Creighton Campus Recreation and Wellness" to find the appropriate location. Select this location option.
  7. On the home page, you will see two buttons. Please select the "schedule" button.
  8. This will then take you to a calendar showing all of the group fitness classes available for each day of the week. Select your desired date on the calendar.
  9. A list of classes for that date will appear below. Select your desired class and click "Book" to the right of the class name to register for that class.
  10. Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation email confirming your class booking.
