Becky Nickerson, Assistant Director
Becky is a native of Council Bluffs, Iowa and received her Bachelorís degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa. Following graduation, Becky worked as a Family Support Worker for Head Start in South Omaha, and a psychiatric social worker for Alegent Health. She also worked as a school-based interventionist for the Area Education Agency in Iowa for 5 years.
Becky came to Creighton in 2004, working 4 Ĺ years in the office of Health Sciences Ė Multicultural and Community Affairs. She received Creighton Universityís Rookie of the Year award in 2005. Becky moved to the Assistant Director position in the Office of Multicultural Affairs in November 2008. She received her Masterís Degree in Counselor Education at Creighton in May 2009. As a graduate student, she was inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu, a Jesuit Honor Society.
At Creighton, Becky is a member of the Division of Student Servicesí Strategic Planning Committee, the Divisionís Programming team, the New Student Orientation Committee, the Diversity Scholarship selection committee, and is an RSP 200 Pre-Major Advisor. She is also a member of the Racial Healing Assessment team in conjunction with a Kellogg Foundation grant.
Becky stays involved in the community through her volunteer work with American Cancer Society, the Pottawattamie County Tobacco Prevention Coalition, and as a Sunday School teacher and youth sportsí coach. She lives in Council Bluffs with her husband Rick and their four children: Tyler, Ross, Paige and Taylor.
