Coffee and Conversations- Central to the Transformative Learning Theory is the need for open dialogue with others.  This is critical to a perspective transformation which "leads to a more fully developed frame of reference? one that is more (a) inclusive, (b) differentiating, (c) permeable, (d) critically reflective, and (e) integrative of experience" (Mezirow (1996) as cited in Taylor (2008).

Coffee and Conversations is designed to bring all freshmen multicultural students into the Office of Multicultural Affairs within the first semester of classes in order for students to learn about the resources the OMA provides as well as to connect with staff and begin the process of open dialogue. For more information contact Becky Nickerson at bnickerson@creighton.edu.

The Solidarity Lecture Series-The Solidarity Lecture Series is an opportunity for Creighton faculty to share research and work in areas of diversity and multiculturalism with the Creighton community throughout the academic year. We envision this lecture series as a forum for professors to share their research beyond their respective departments. The Solidarity Lecture Series has two goals: (1) Participants will gain knowledge and discuss issues of diversity and (2) Presenters will share current research in areas of social justice, diversity, and multiculturalism. The first lecture is September 15, 2011, for more information or if you are a CU faculty member interested in participating please contact Luz Colon-Rodriguez at LRodriguez@creighton.edu.

Courageous Voices-Courageous Voices is a program series that will focus on fostering constructive dialogue about some of society's most contentious issues, including but not limited to: race, religion, sexual orientation, and conflicts throughout the world. We invite students, faculty, and staff to participate. For more information or if you are interested in participating please contact Luz Colon-Rodriguez at LRodriguez@creighton.edu.
