Dangerous Drinking
Dangerous Drinking
Many college students:
take drinking alcohol to dangerous levels
set out to get drunk and become out of control
engage in games and rituals designed for quick consumption of large amounts of alcohol
do not realize the dangers and risks that come with excessive drinking
The problem is that many college students see this kind of excessive, “binge” drinking as normal, acceptable, even a “right of passage.” Those that survive this “right of passage” deal with other consequences such as: impaired health, brain damage, impaired academic and athletic performance and social problems. None of them planned for these problems, they were just “out for a good time.”
However, when we see students meeting tragic deaths on college campuses all over the country due to alcohol, we realize that this “passage” is not all “a good time.” Excessive drinking can lead students down paths that threaten not only their health and future, but their very life.
