The Skutt Student and Harper Centers recognize their student employees and their achievements in multiple ways. Of these recognitions, none are more prestigious than the Student Newcomer of the Year Award, Rowland W. Hughes Award, and the Student Employee of the Year Award.

Rowland W. Hughes Award

This award, named after the first director of the Skutt Student Center and Harper Center, Rowland W. Hughes, recognizes a student who exemplifies the spirit of being a part of a special team committed to the college union experience, who participates in many activities offered to student employees and engages their co-workers on and off duty.

Student Employee of the Year Award

This award recognizes a student employee who consistently goes above and beyond their job duties, who has a positive attitude and works well with all clients and staff in the Skutt Student Center and Harper Center.

Student Newcomer of the Year Award

This award recognizes a student who has been employed with the Skutt Student Center and Harper Center one year or less, who has grasped their job duties and the jobs of others in the Centers while always wanting to know more about how the operation works.
