The Student Activities Office (SAO) is committed to fostering student leaders in the Ignatian tradition. Our mission statement challenges both students and staff "to respect and celebrate the commonalties and uniqueness of all".
As a department within Student Services, we ascribe to the division's policy statement: The Division of Student Services adheres to Creighton University's Statement on Diversity which welcomes the rich variety of (a) states of being, (b) ways of thinking, and (c) individual, group, and organizational behaviors that are present in our community. Our intent as the Division of Student Services is to promote self-awareness, cultural competency, and an open atmosphere of learning for staff and students. The Division of Student Services is committed to promoting a climate of acceptance and respect, recognizing the dignity of all persons in the University community, and those served by the University community.
Multicultural Student Organizations - The Student Activities Office currently has registered 14 undergraduate cultural and greek student organizations and eight professional organizations:
Training Efforts - Reinstituted in Fall 2006, Skills for Succes is an organizational leadership training series. Students are encourgaged to sign up for the monthly sessions via email or in the office. Included in the Spring 2007 schedule is "Cross Cultural Communication" with Dr. Jay Leighter.
Leadership Resource Library - Within the SAO exists a library available to studens on a myriad of leadership topics. Currently there are over 25 diversity education/training resources available for any student to check out free of charge.
NASPA's Undergraduate Fellow Program (NUFP) - The mission of NASPA's Undergraduate Fellows Program is to increase the number of professionals from underrepresented groups in leadership roles in student affairs and higher education. Student Activities encourages applications for the Summer of 2007.
