Mission Statement: It is the goal and ultimate desire of the Jazz and Blues Society not only to instruct members in the performance of music individually and as a group, but also to give the students an understanding of the unique world that revolves around these genres. A key aspect of the performance of jazz and blues is the necessity of improvisatory technique. It shall be the desire of the Society to allow members to learn about the importance of harmony in the group as well as the use of emotion and musical creativity in the practice of improvisation. Essentially, the Jazz and Blues Society will create music through the cooperation of members and will provoke members to express themselves individually.
