The Medical Spanish Club raises awareness about the importance of the Spanish language and culture in the medical community. Our goal is to teach medical students about different cultures and how they will affect their future practices. Through education about the language and culture we prepare ourselves to better serve the Hispanic community in Omaha. The Medical Spanish Club will offer an opportunity for its members to practice their oral Spanish skills, as meetings will be conducted in both Spanish and English. (However, no prior knowledge of Spanish is required to be a member or an officer.) We also offer volunteer opportunities in which students can translate in clinics with a large Hispanic patient base. Through these goals we aspire toward the core values of Creighton: service to others, inalienable worth of all members of society and an appreciation of ethnic and cultural diversity.
