Commitment to the Community

University Dining Services at Creighton University is committed to the Jesuit, Catholic mission of being Women and Men for and with Others. Through our various programs, we strive to serve the greater Omaha community in concert with Creighton faculty, staff, and students! For example, the Dining Dollars Program at Creighton was first suggested to University Dining Services by Jason Bodewitz, a former student on campus. His idea and enthusiasm helped us build a program that has helped provide food products each year to local Omaha area shelters. University Dining Services at Creighton is also proud to serve 100% fair trade coffee on campus. Past Creighton students suggested this to University Dining Services and their input led to converting all coffee--retail, catering, and dining halls--to fair trade coffee.

Sodexo's Commitment for a Better Tomorrow

Sustainability at Creighton

We recognize that we have a responsibility to use our resources wisely and to protect them for future generations. Natural materials, foods, and packaging, proper farming and trade practices, and innovative recycling programs are just a few of our sustainable practices.

  1. We purchase all our Milk & Dairy products from Dean Foods, a locally farmer owned company in Lincoln, NE.

  2. Campus Dining currently sources produce from Loffredo's, a local company here in Omaha. Loffredo's supplies us with fresh produce including, fruits, vegetables, and herbs that support local agriculture in the surrounding communities.

  3. We purchase Nebraska beef when available.

  4. We eliminated individual bottles of condiments from each dining table, and now use bulk dispensers to significantly reduce plastic waste.

  5. We have gone trayless throughout campus, which has reduced energy, water and chemical usage.

  6. Xpressnap Dispensers are used throughout campus. These dispensers meet Green product requirements, are white and natural, third party certified, and the napkins are 100% recycled.

  7. We implemented the Ecolab Apex Dishwashing System which combines technology and products designed to save water and energy, and minimize the impact of products on the environment

  8. Ecolab Green Products are used all over campus in the dining, retail, and catering facilities.

  9. All packaging and utensils at the Brew Jay are Eco-friendly and made out of recycled material.
