12th Annual Student Leadership Awards

12TH ANNUAL STUDENT LEADERSHIP AWARDS

The Division of Student Life celebrated its 12th Annual Award Ceremony on Sunday, April 23, 2017, to recognize and celebrate the hard work and successes of the students involved throughout the various departments within the Division. This year, the following awards were presented at a dinner hosted by Student Life:

  • Encourage Award
  • Impact Award
  • Innovation Award
  • Leader of Today
  • Leader of Tomorrow
  • Leader of Yesterday
  • Partnership Award

Encourage Award

The Encourage Award is given out by the Division of Student Life to recognize a student or a student employee who demonstrates the unique ability of inspiring and motivating others to learn and develop during the 2016-17 academic year. Nominees should display a promotion of self-awareness, collaboration, personal and professional growth in others and embody a team-oriented mentality. Strong nominations may include, but are not limited to, team leaders stepping up to direct a group of peers, employees going beyond job responsibilities to support the team as a whole, or those employees with the intangible characteristics that unite a team.

Impact Award

The Impact Award is given out by the Division of Student Life to recognize a student(s) who has made a significant impression to various departments throughout the Division of Student Life during the 2016-17 academic year. Nominees should display a depth in their various commitments through involvement in leading activities within various departments and assisting in building bridges among those entities. Creating an impact in the Division may include, but is not limited to, being involved in one department as a student leader and other via employment, utilizing two different roles to form a relationship between otherwise separate experiences, or applying the skills of various involvement opportunities to enhance others' experiences.

Innovation Award

The Innovation Award is given out by the Division of Student Life to recognize a student(s) who used their creativity to implement a new program, practice, or tool during the 2016-17 academic year. Nominees should have displayed outside the box thinking to create something that enhanced the overall experience for the Creighton community. Innovations may include, but are not limited to, an innovative program put on by a student organization, a change in practice spearheaded by student leaders, or a tool/service created by students to better serve their community.

Leader of Today Award

This award recognizes a student leader who has recently entered a leadership role within an organization and is already having his or her impact felt. He or she has shown the ability to deal with adversity and difficult situations, and allowed his or her organization to continue moving forward. He or she has embraced change and uses this to lead the organization to a prosperous future.

Leader of Tomorrow Award

This award recognizes an aspiring student leader who is beginning his or her leadership journey here at Creighton. This student should be involved in various activities on campus and shown the commitment and potential to make an impact in the future. He or she should be someone peers loop up to in the organization, even though he or she does not have the title or position to garner such admiration.

Leader of Yesterday Award

This award is given to a graduating student who has shown leadership and dedication to his/her organization throughout their time at Creighton. He or she has held an executive-level position in the organization and helped to shape where the organization is today. The legacy this student has left with the organization is one that is easily identified by peers and will be felt after the individual has graduated.

Partnership Award

The Partnership Award is given out by the Division of Student Life to recognize a student(s) who has enhanced the student experience via collaborative efforts during the 2016-17 academic year. Nominees display a positive attitude toward others, openness to new ideas, an understanding of the goals of the multiple groups around the table, and a desire to ultimately provide more for students. Partnering with others may include, but not limited to, the sharing of resources across campus to foster we--rounded conversations, bolstering an initiative, program, or department through the inclusion of others, or meeting the needs of multiple entities via collaboration.
