Diversity Action Team
Overview
The Division of Student Services Diversity Action Team (DAT) was formed in the spring of 2007. Charged by Dr. John C. Cernech, Vice President for Student Services, DAT has crafted a diversity policy statement, launched a continuing education plan for every staff member in the Division, and hosted listening sessions to hear the concerns of students on our campus. Framed within the context of understanding cultural competencies, DAT is guided by “A Typology of Intergroup Competencies” by V. Jean Ramsey and Jean Kantambu Latting.
A Note from the Chair
Welcome to the Diversity Action Team's website! We are excited that you are interested in our work and our vision for the Division of Student Services. Now in our second year, Initiatives for Diversity Education and Action (IDEA) programming is directed to the professional and personal development of our staff members. In order to serve our students and greater Creighton Community, the Division of Student Services asks our staff members to engage in programming and dialogue so to increase our individual and collective cultural competence.
I encourage staff members to utilize this site to check for programming efforts that help you work the competencies that Ramsey and Latting have outlined for us. The calendar of our continuing education units is offered on this site for your reference. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact any of the team members.
Best wishes for the year!
