New Student Orientation is committed to fostering an inclusive environment for our students and families in transition, while developing student leaders in the Ignatian tradition. Our mission statement challenges us to provide programs which will "address the needs of diverse populations including transfer, minority, international and commuter students."
Programming Efforts - Through our orientation efforts, we devote time to programs to help educate our new students and families regarding our community values. Programs have included:
- Religious Services including a Catholic Mass and Interfaith Services
- For and With Others service allows us to be men and women for and with others in Omaha.
- Through a theatrical performance, we address our community values, including "respecting and promoting the dignity of all people"
- Jays in the City programs are geared to our students living off campus
Student Staff Training - New Student Orientation trains our student leaders regarding topics such as multiculturalism, cultural sensitivity, marginalizing and mattering. Our staff is also trained on how to refer new students to the myriad of campus resources available on campus.
