Auditing a Class

Auditing a Class

Students will be permitted to register as auditors with the authorization of the Dean. Not all courses are open to auditors. Auditors are not held responsible for the work expected of regular students, are not admitted to examinations, and receive no grade or credit for the course. Regular attendance at class is expected and auditors are subject to being dropped from the course for excessive absences (in this event auditors receive a W).

A student who has previously enrolled as an auditor may not take the course for credit during any succeeding semester or summer term except by special permission of the Dean. Tuition for courses audited are reduced from the Spring 2017 per-credit hour tuition rate.

Special courses, workshops, and institutes offered at a special flat-tuition charge are excluded from the auditor discount. Students seeking to change from credit to audit status will be eligible for a tuition adjustment (if not otherwise applicable) only if the change is made with the Deanís approval within the period for late registration.

Class Attendance

Class Attendance

Creighton Universityís primary obligation is the total education of its students. Implicit in the achievement of this goal will be the studentís conscientious attendance of classes and laboratory sessions. Any exception to this norm will be made by the individual instructor for his or her own well-considered reasons.

Each teacher in the undergraduate colleges will, at the start of the term, announce his or her procedures concerning class attendance, verification of excused absences, etc. It is the studentís responsibility to note these procedures and to follow them carefully.
