Recognizing American Indian Success in Education (RAISE)

RAISE was restored with the implementation of the Graduation Cedar Ceremony. The restoration of RAISE was designed to cultivate a culture of success using Native cultural traditions as an appropriate way to recognize and encourage college success. The Graduation Cedar Ceremony has become a tradition that will provide an opportunity for Native American students to showcase their ?Magnum Opus.?

Students are presented with a beaded medallion and feather plume to wear on their caps during commencement. In Native American cultures, it is customary to honor great achievements with an eagle feather. After the Cedar Ceremony, the students and their families gather for a dinner organized in their honor.
