Emerging Leader Award

The Emerging Leader Award is presented to a first-year C-NAAP student who exemplifies leadership through service involvement and expresses strong academic achievements. The recipient of this award demonstrates high levels of initiative, independence, resourcefulness, and judgment in accomplishing academic goals.

Recipient for Spring 2014

River Gunville

River Gunville is a freshman majoring in Biology. She is a bright, well organized, resilient, and dedicated young woman. She is a member of the Native American Learning Community (NALC) and takes advantage of offered volunteer opportunities. She has participated in the Hoops4Life event for the Nebraska Urban Indian Health Coalition, serves as a tutor for Central High School students in the Native Indigenous Centered Education (N.I.C.E) program, and recently participated in a week long immersion service trip to the Cheyenne River reservation. River?s strong leadership motivates her to seek out academic and personal resources to help her succeed. She is a regular in the SSS office, taking advantage of our tutoring services, which is evident in her GPA. Congratulations River!
