Sitewide Content Diagram

Featured content appears across the Creighton.edu web property in the form of featured stories, graphics, etc. This content is designed to support Creighton's key brand messages and Web Strategy. As such, the graphics and content that appear in these areas will be managed by the Web Strategy team in Marketing and Communications and scheduled according to the web editorial calendar.

Site-wide Featured Content Guidelines

Secondary content should appear in the following order:

  1. Featured Links
  2. Related Links
  3. Quote or Quote+Image(+Link)
  4. Promo Boxes
  5. Upcoming Events Feed (no more than one)
  6. Recent News

Sitewide Content Elements

1. Featured Links

Featured links will be utilized to reinforce the key calls-to-action (CTAs), such as "Request Info", "Visit" or "Apply". Because featured links are tied to CTAs and strategy, they appear as a graphic button to give them more visual prominence.
Limit: 3 Featured Links per page
Update: Quarterly
Copy: 15-20 characters (with spaces)
Color & Placement: Most important CTA appears at the top of all featured links and uses the orange #FFA300 background color. The remainder use the blue #002F6C background color.

2. Related Links

Related links will be utilized to provide access to supplemental information. Meaning critical or related content that can not otherwise be accessed from the page. Related Links should not duplicate the left-hand navigation menu.
Reviewed: Annually
Copy: 15-20 characters (with spaces)

3. Quotes + Images (+ Links)

Quote+Images feature an image of and quote from a student, alumna/alumnus or faculty member. These quotes should relate to the content on the page and should reinforce the Creighton brand (excellence, guided by faith, value service to others, etc).
Update: Annually
Quote: 10-15 words (with spaces)
Image: Upload at 700x320 px , sizes down to: 350x160 px

Use the quote + image + link if you have not only quote + image content, but also a content page with more information about the student, alumna/alumnus or faculty/staff member.
Quote: 10-15 words (with spaces)
Image: Upload at 700x320 px , sizes down to: 350x160 px

4. Promo Boxes

Across the site, promo boxes will be utilized to reinforce the brand message. The message should highlight outcomes or key brand differentiators. The promo boxes will contain a key brand message with a link to a relevant site page. Example: "We develop the whole person. Learn more" would be linked to the page What is a Jesuit Education.
Update: Quarterly
Copy: 8-10 words
Button: 10-15 characters (with spaces)

5. Upcoming Events

The Upcoming Events feed on the bottom right of the home page pulls in content from calendar.creighton.edu automatically. It displays the 4 most recent events tagged with Admissions; Lectures, Theater, Performances, and Community Events; Mission; and Student Life. The Division of Information Technology manages the calendar.

6. Recent News

The Recent News feed on the bottom right of the home page pulls in content automatically. It displays the 4 most recent news releases from www.creighton.edu/publicrelations/newscenter/

7. About - Rankings & Reviews Page

Only ratings and reviews from respected organizations will be featured. Ratings and reviews should support the brand's image of excellence.
Update: Quarterly

8. Academics - Research Page Featured Story

Featured research story ideally would highlight student research and differentiate Creighton from other universities as the ideal school for students wanting to make a difference with their research.
Update: Bi-annually
Copy: 150-300 word story
