Union Pacific Diversity Scholars Program
The Union Pacific Diversity Scholars Program is a prestigious award offered through Union Pacific Railroad, a Fortune 500 company headquartered in the heart of downtown Omaha with roughly 40,000 employees across the globe, that engages students who are best able to articulate and promote workplace leadership in diversity and inclusion for a more just world.
The Union Pacific Diversity Scholars Program is a new partnership between Creighton University and Union Pacific Railroad to promote diversity and inclusion. Incoming freshmen who earn this award will get a $25k/year scholarship for four years and will be part of a growing community of scholars. Each year there will be at least eight new scholars added to that community. During the four years, each student will receive support, development, and training in diversity and inclusion approaches.
The program will be led through input, support, and partnership from Amy Bang, Senior Manager for Diversity and Inclusion at Union Pacific along overall leadership from Creighton’s Vice President for the Division of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Sarah Walker, PhD. There is commitment throughout senior leadership at both Union Pacific and Creighton for this program to be successful. Over the course of their four years, students will have access and exposure to leaders from across both organizations.
The Union Pacific Diversity Scholar Program is open to students from underrepresented minority groups with a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher.
