Creighton's Department of Public Safety takes the health and safety of all community members and guests of Creighton University seriously. When patroling the campus or responding to calls, each of the three Public Safety vehicles is equipped with an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). An AED is a device that automatically analyzes the heart rhythm and, if it detects a problem that may respond to an electrical shock, that permits a shock to be delivered to restore a normal heart rhythm.
Officers are annually trained on how to operate these life-savings tools in an emergency.
