Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III Grants Through American Rescue Plan (ARP)
Creighton University has signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement for the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF). Creighton University will be receiving $8,734,189 and $4,374,478 will be used to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students that need additional assistance in meeting components of their cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care. Emergency assistance for these allowable expenses will be provided in accordance with institutional policy and guidance from the US Department of Education. Creighton University has approximately 6,700 students who are eligible to apply for this grant funding.
If students have experienced significant educational-related expenses as a result of COVID-19 and want to be considered for a CRRSAA grant, they should complete our application for these funds which is available September 29, 2021.
Deadline to complete application is 11:59 p.m. on 10/10/2021. A review committee will evaluate each request on an individual basis and grant award notifications will be sent no later than 10/20/2021. Students will have the opportunity to direct the funds to pay off their student account or to go directly to them.
This grant may be used for any component of your cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care. Prioritization will be given to students with exceptional need.
The actual award amounts will vary depending upon the number of requests for funding and a committee evaluation of financial need.
Students will need to be signed up for Direct Deposit in the NEST so that Creighton University can promptly make these grants available to the recipients. To sign up for direct deposit, please complete the following steps:
- Login to NEST.
- Select “Student Accounts.”
- Select “Sign up for Direct Deposit of Refunds.”
- Enter your bank’s routing number (this is NOT the number on a deposit ticket, you will need an actual check), your account number and designate the account type as a checking or savings.
- Select “Submit.”
- Read through the Direct Deposit Agreement, print a copy for your records, and select “I Agree” at the bottom of the page.
