Cindy Lou Selig, DNP, APRN, RNC-OB, CPLC

Assistant Professor

Cindy is committed to the education of nurses for professional practice, expertise and implementation for family-centered care within the Traditional and Accelerated Nursing programs.  She has taught at Creighton College of Nursing for 12 years.  She has 45 years of nursing experience and the majority within the hospital setting for Maternal Child Nursing in Labor and Delivery, postpartum and NICU.  She worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in High-Risk Ob and as a Nursing Director on a Childbirth Unit in implementing new policy Best practice changes.  She is driven to encourage individuals to consider a career in Nursing.   

Cindy has presented for Resolve Through Sharing (RTS) Bereavement Services in LaCrosse Wisconsin since 1991 which is a Perinatal educational program for Interdisciplinary team members. RTS has been on the cutting edge for Perinatal Palliative care.  Cindy maintains her certification for Inpatient Obstetric nurse as she continues to teach students on the clinical unit and for the didactic curriculum.   Cindy was the first Sexual Assault Nursing Examiner (SANE) in Nebraska and collaborating in implementing the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) within the Rape Spouse Abuse Counseling Center (RSACC) and Child Advocacy Center (CAC). Cindy has served on the advisory committee for a Ph.D. candidate for evaluating the Results of a Concept Analysis of Palliative Care Nursing Interventions for simulation with undergraduate nursing students to demonstrate competency in palliative care. Cindy has initiated numerous Perinatal Loss Bereavement (RTS) programs within numerous hospitals and advised programs across the United States.  She has served as program directors, educator, grief support group facilitator and planned many walks to remembers and annual memorial services.
