Neurology Residency Program

Luka Vlahovic, MD

Assistant Professor

I graduated from Belgrade School of Medicine in Serbia, where I was accepted to be a scholar of the Serbian Ministry of Education due to being one of the top students in my class.
In July 2012, I became a neurology resident at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, where I had the opportunity to be exposed to a wide array of neurological conditions, from both the inpatient and outpatient side. That has helped me to sharpen my future career goals and to define my central field of interest .
Following completion of my residency training, I completed 1-year neuro-immunology fellowship at Stanford University. During my training at Stanford, I had opportunity to be involved in one clinical trial as a sub-investigator, predominately working as an examiner and EDSS (Expanded Disability Status Scale) rater. I also attended one week long  “Intense Course in clinical research: study design and performance” as well as Clinical Teaching Seminar Series which is a year-long faculty development program in medical education, all at Stanford.
“Intense Course in clinical research” was a great opportunity to get some very basic knowledge about different types of clinical research, process of publishing and basic concepts of descriptive statistics.
In July 2017, I started to work as a neurologist/neuroimmunologist at CHI and assistant professor at Creighton’s University.
I am positive that this Master is a great platform to continue my education, get additional expertise in this very important area that I can further utilize to conduct clinical trials and build MS Center here at CHI/Creighton.
