Creighton University Professor Maorong Jiang Visits Hohai University’s School of Marxism

Creighton University Professor Maorong Jiang was invited to give a lecture at the School of Marxism at Hohai University on May 3, 2012, entitled “U.S. Policy in East Asia and its Changes”. The event took place in the administration building room 320 to celebrate the first anniversary of our school’s inaugural academic lecture series. Those in attendance included the School of Marxism’s Dean Yu Dahuai, Vice President Liu Ailian, Professor Bi Xia, Associate Professor Dan Lianchun, and over 50 students and other associate professors.

Professor Jiang drew upon his own research with the United States in addition to his experiences to tell the story of the origin of American policy in East Asia and its changes. Professor Jiang’s speech, also full of humor, greatly benefited and left a deep impression with all the students and teachers.

After the lecture, Professor Jiang participated in an interactive discussion with graduate students during which students were asked to comment on the different periods of, and similarities and differences between, U.S. policy in East Asia. The entire discussion maintained a strong academic atmosphere and introduced several Western ideas of international policy, making it a great success.  Professor Jiang and other teachers from Hohai University also discussed further cooperation and exchanges between Creighton University and Hohai University.
