Kayode Oshin

Research in the Oshin laboratory focuses on the design of catalyst systems that facilitate the efficient transformation of olefins into functionalized monoadducts utilizing Atom Transfer Radical Addition (ATRA) reactions. With that goal in mind, we have three main objectives: (1) Synthesizing and characterizing copper hetero-macrocyclic complexes that can act as efficient catalysts in ATRA reactions, (2) Investigating new ATRA schemes incorporating catalysts that provide control over the number of substituent groups transferred to alkene substrates, and (3) Developing methods to measure kinetic parameters that regulate these reactions (activation rates, deactivation rates, & equilibrium constant).
