Camille Voorhees

Biography

Midwest-born and Omaha-based, Camille Hawbaker Voorhees uses a variety of “craft” techniques from printmaking, book arts, and textile arts to create mixed-media works on paper. The artist explores a sense of self-alienation in the decay of inherited systems of thought – which is necessary for personal rejuvenation, transformation, and growth. In a world of rapid technological, social, and environmental disruption, she feels compelled to acknowledge the perpetual nature of change.

Camille studied printmaking at the undergraduate and graduate level, and completed her MFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2014. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including the Museum of Nebraska Art, the Joslyn Art Museum, and the Ibrahim Müteferrika Paper Museum, Yalova, Turkey. Her work is in numerous public and private collections, including the Sheldon Museum of Art and the Zuckerman Museum of Art.
