The Diagnostic Sciences faculty and staff are responsible for 20 courses in didactic, laboratory, preclinical and clinical settings that provide dental students an education in oral diagnosis, oral medicine, oral pathology, general pathology, radiology, oral hygiene, behavioral science aspects of patient care, management of medically complex patients, patient assessment and temporomandibular disorders.  These courses provide the knowledge base and clinical experiences to support the following clinical competencies:

  • Case Presentation and Documentation Skills
  • Communication and Relationships with Patients
  • Prevention
  • Self-Directed Learning

Oral Medicine Clinic and Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) Imaging Services

In addition to educating dental students and staffing patient care, the faculty and staff provide clinical specialty care through the Oral Medicine Clinic, which is available for referral from the community healthcare providers and a CBCT Imaging service that supports dental school patients and local referrals.
