Start Your Adventure!

Encuentro Dominicano is unlike any typical study abroad experience. Creighton University has maintained its presence as a Catholic/Jesuit institution in the Dominican Republic for over 40 years. For this reason, Encuentro Dominicano seeks students who will maintain our integrity with the Dominican people and commit themselves wholeheartedly to this experience.

Step 1: Get the Info!

  • Contact Ms. Jill Muegge, Encuentro Dominicano Campus Coordinator, at or (402) 280-4185.
  • Attend a Study Abroad Info Session or schedule an appointment in GEO. Please contact the Global Engagement Office for more information at (402) 280-2221.
  • Browse our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
  • Talk to past students, or reach out to our team of Study Abroad Peer Advisors

Step 2: Submit your Study Abroad Application

*Please note that students on disciplinary or academic probation the semester before the proposed term abroad or during the proposed term abroad are not eligible to study abroad or participate in the Encuentro Dominicano program.

Step 3: Prepare for your Interview

Once your online application is processed and all documents received, you will be contacted by a member of GEO to schedule a program interview. This interview will be conducted by a member or members of the GEO, as well as a Creighton Encuentro Alum.

Step 4: Attend Encuentro Orientation

After acceptance, all students are required to attend the Encuentro pre-departure orientation. Flight instructions, arrival details, insurance information, and much more will be covered at this orientation. A member of the Encuentro team will send you orientation details.

Step 5: Get Excited and Prepare for your Trip!

Continue to monitor your Jays Abroad Portal regularly as any new forms and/or requirements will be added there. Please keep your eye out for pre-departure information from Encuentro staff in the Dominican Republic, as well as an invitation to an orientation session at Creighton.  You can also start reading up on the country, its history and the information you'll need to be an informed traveler!
